Virginia Independent Horror Film Festival

In Richmond, horror film fans are getting an early start on Halloween, with the first Virginia Independent Horror Film Festival taking place Saturday afternoon, September 14th  and running into the wee hours Sunday morning.

It won’t necessarily be off to a very scary start.  Rather, the festival is going old school—with a documentary about the Bowman Body….Maybe you remember producer Bill Bowman, who hosted TV horror movie showings throughout Virginia.

Bill Bowman himself will be on hand to talk to his fans.  Festival organizer Christopher Shoen though says at the day continues, the mood will be changing

Buffered between Wes Craven’s slasher film "Scream," and Bill Bowman’s “so bad it’s good” material, is the Homegrown Horror Showcase….featuring eight short films, several with Virginia connections…. exploring a different aspect of the genre.

The ticket booth opens Saturday at  3:00 p.m., with the first film showing at 4:00 p.m.  Get more information here.
