With all 2,558 voting precincts now reporting statewide, Republican candidate for Attorney General Mark Obenshain now holds a thin lead of 476 votes. That breaks down to 49.91% for Obenshain and 49.88% for Democrat Mark Herring.
Current Governor Bob McDonnell won the state attorney general’s race in 2005 by a margin of only 323 votes after an automatic recount. The Herring-Obenshain race is headed for a recount as well following an immediate canvassing of the vote.
