Search Resumes for Samantha Clarke and Alexis Murphy

The search for two girls who vanished as teenagers in recent years resumed yesterday morning – and Randy Taylor, who is now serving two life sentences for murder and abduction, is associated with both cases.

Federal, state and local law enforcement this weekend resumed the search for two teenagers-- Samantha Clarke of  Orange County, who has been missing since 2010…. and Alexis Murphy of Nelson County, who vanished in 2013. Town of Orange Police Chief Jim Fenwick says Randy Taylor is linked to both cases:

Samantha Clarke

“Ever since Randy Taylor was named a Person of Interest in the Alexis Murphy Case, the Samantha Clarke and Alexis Murphy cases have been inextricably combined. So we feel it would be a disservice to both families to not take both cases into consideration. So that’s why we’re here today.”

About 150 searchers worked to cover 200 acres of a hunt club property in western Orange County, and police say it’s an area Taylor was very familiar with. Taylor was convicted of Murphy’s abduction and murder last spring, and the last calls on Clarke’s cell phone were from Taylor.
