The Legendary Anchorman

BILL KURTIS: From NPR and WBEZ Chicago, this is WAIT WAIT... DON’T TELL ME, the NPR news quiz. I am the anchor that keeps our great ship of state from floating away, Bill Kurtis. And here is your host at the Chase Bank Auditorium in Chicago, Peter Sagal.

PETER SAGAL, HOST:

Thank you, Bill. Thanks so much, everybody.

(APPLAUSE)

SAGAL: So...

(APPLAUSE)

SAGAL: ...Whenever we do a clip show, we get a lot of complaints. Why do you do all those clip shows? It's just an hour a week. You can put in the time. And we took these complaints to heart. And we really wondered about it, and ultimately we decided we had to take a week off to think about it some more.

(LAUGHTER)

KURTIS: So today it's a clip show, but it's a really good one. And comfort yourself knowing that we're engaging in some really deep self-examination.

SAGAL: We'll start today with Bill himself. Now, when Bill Kurtis started on the show two years ago, he introduced himself quite accurately as a legendary anchorman. But legendary anchorman cannot rest on their laurels, so he started changing it up.
