Helping Turn Ideas Into Businesses

Twelve Virginia localities are receiving money to turn their entrepreneurial ideas into a real business.

The Building Entrepreneurial Economies program is providing 226 thousand dollars in funding to non-profits and local governments to help develop economies that foster job creation and expansion.  Amanda Pearson is with the state Department of Housing and Community Development.

“It’s working in partnership with area businesses, educational institutions; that public-private partnership within communities to help develop programs and services to provide innovative ways to help these entrepreneurs get capital and training that they will need to succeed in their businesses.”

The funding includes 45 thousand dollars to the Staunton Creative Community Fund for an investing program; 25 thousand dollars to the RVA in Richmond for a financial innovation fund; and 16 thousand to the Floyd County Economic Authority for an innovation center business challenge
