Killing Kennedy Movie Seeks Extras

National Geographic is looking for extras to work on the film Killing Kennedy, filming in Richmond next week.

The production company was most recently in Virginia filming last year’s Killing Lincoln.

Killing Kennedy stars Rob Lowe and Ginnifer Goodwin.  They’re looking for background players of all shapes and sizes, including many Caucasian males and Hispanic men and women.

There’s one scene that takes place in Mexico City, even though it will be shot in Richmond.

Birds of Paradise

Birds of Paradise are an exotic family of feathered friends found only in Papua New Guinea, but this summer, some of them have landed in the trees on Charlottesville’s downtown mall.  

Male Birds of Paradise are perhaps the prettiest creatures of their kind – with crazy, colorful plumage, precision dance moves and a piercing song that appeals to the less colorful females.

Federal Recognition for VA's Indian Tribes

A bipartisan group of Virginia lawmakers is fighting to win federal recognition of six tribes in the commonwealth.

The tribes have treaties dating back to the 1600s. But there 's a catch: the agreements are with the King of England. Even now, the UK recognizes and honors these American tribes, while the US government doesn't. That's partly because in 1924, a law was passed that declared Virginia contained no Native Americans and wiped the commonwealth's record books of their history.
