Virginia Senator Mark Warner marked the anniversary of the Virginia Tech tragedy with a speech on the senate floor.
He said the gun control legislation debated in the Senate includes his proposal to set up a National Campus Safety Center—to make colleges and university campuses safer nationwide.
Warner says the Center would provide colleges, universities and non-profit organizations with one-stop resources for research, grants and planning and training initiatives.
A remembrance ceremony on the grounds of Capitol Square marked the 6th anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings.
Public schools would be required to establish threat assessment teams and procedures under legislation that has advanced in the House of Delegates.
