RADIO IQ & WVTF SUMMER PROGRAMMING CHANGES

Changes for RADIO IQ:

Virginia Conversations will cease production after we air the Friday, June 27 program. In its place you will hear the 9:00 AM hour of Morning Edition same as Monday-Thursday. Virginia Conversations has been produced by us at WVTF/RADIO IQ and in addition to airing on our stations the program was distributed live and as a recorded program to other Virginia Public Radio member stations. But not all the VPR stations carried it while all the member stations were using the state and regional news feature stories and daily spot coverage funded by VPR money. The member stations favored a re-purposing of the Virginia Conversations funding to produce more feature length pieces and spot news stories that air in national news magazines.

NPR has made the difficult decision to end production of Tell Me More on August 1st. This change is part of a plan that restructures NPR's newsroom for the future. Starting on August 4 on RADIO IQ, we’ll be airing a fresh hour of On Point weeknights at 9:00.  

Changes for WVTF:

Because Virginia Conversations will no longer be produced after Friday, June 27, Morning Classics returns to the 9:00 o’clock hour on Fridays. So, starting Monday June 30, your classical favorites will be heard on WVTF Monday-Friday from 9:00-12:00 on Morning Classics and 12:00-4:00 on Afternoon Classics.  

And in place of the rebroadcast of Virginia Conversations on WVTF Tuesdays at 7:30 PM, you will hear The TED Radio Hour from NPR starting July 1.
