The WVTF / RADIO IQ news team is a recipient of the regional Edward R. Murrow Award, one of the most prestigious honors in broadcast and digital news. The Radio Television Digital News Association award acknowledges outstanding achievements in electronic journalism that demonstrate the values, principals and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a pioneer who set the bar for the high quality broadcast journalism.
The entire WVTF / RADIO IQ news department participated in the award-winning submission for Continuing Coverage: Charlottesville's Summer of Hate, from reports on the ground before, during and after late August 2017 to vigils in Blacksburg and Roanoke and long-term followups in Richmond.
