Virginia Spurned Numerous Talking Points During Last Night's Debate

The vice presidential debate featured a few key moments that put Virginia in the national spotlight.

Not only was Virginia the host of the vice presidential debate, it was also at the center of many key points of disagreement. Indiana Governor Mike Pence framed his time in office as a time of effective and conservative leadership.

“That’s a little bit different than when Senator Kaine was governor here in Virginia. He actually tired to raise taxes by about four billion dollars, and he left his state two billion dollars in the hole."

Kaine defended his time in office, stretching all the way back to the 1990's.

“And when I came in we had one of the highest homicide rates in the United States. We fought very hard over the course of time in local office with our police department and we reduced our homicide rate nearly in half."

That last comment brought about a rare moment of agreement, when both candidates spoke in support of community policing.
