Trump Critic Says Travel Priviledges Are Being Reviewed

NPR

A Gold star father who scolded candidate Donald Trump at the Democratic National Convention for failing to read the constitution may now be in trouble with the federal government.

Khizr Khan is an outspoken critic of the Trump administration.  At a recent rally in Charlottesville he urged the crowd to resist the new president’s policies.

“We will continue to speak.  We will continue to stand together for the values of our country," he said.

But on Monday, the usually vocal Mr. Khan refused to speak with reporters who wondered why he had canceled a trip to Canada.  Khan was the scheduled guest at a luncheon in Toronto, but he notified the sponsors that he would be unable to attend, because his “travel privileges are being reviewed.”

“This turn of events is not just of deep concern to me,” he wrote,“ but to all my fellow Americans who cherish our freedom to travel abroad. I have not been given any reason as to why. I am grateful for your support and look forward to visiting Toronto in the near future.”

A native of Pakistan, Khan has been a U.S. citizen for more than 30 years.
