Same Sex Marriages in Virginia Begin Today

The U-S Supreme Court has cleared the way for immediate expansion of same-sex marriage by turning away appeals from Virginia and four other states seeking to prohibit gay and lesbian unions.

The justices made their ruling without comment.

Now, the Richmond-based federal appeals court say its ruling authorizing same-sex marriages in Virginia will take effect this afternoon at 1:00.
