Hear Their Words: Virginians Who Support Donald Trump

More than 300,000 Virginians voted for Donald Trump during the state’s Republican primary. Virginia will be a key player in the upcoming presidential election, and Trump knows that. He visited Richmond last week for a rally, and vowed to come back.

Supporters and protestors alike turned out to see the controversial presumptive nominee. Here’s what supporters have to say.

THE REPUBLICAN

"Sitting around the kitchen table, these are the things that people are discussing in their home and now here's a man saying it on the TV."

Vanessia Barnett is from North Carolina. When she was younger, she worked in Democratic politics. Now though, she's a Republican who supports Donald Trump.

THE CONVERT

"He will either save the Republican Party or he's going to totally blow it up. Either way, things will finally move forward."

Brian Matthews works in IT in Richmond. He voted for Obama twice -- the biggest mistake of his life, he says. This election cycle, he's been an ardent Bernie Sanders supporter. But now, he's turning to Donald Trump.

THE BELIEVER

"There are a lot of people out there who are covert supporters. I think they're going to come out of the closet and support Trump."

TayneRenmark owns her own design business in Richmond. She thinks supporting business by getting out of the way is the most important thing a President can do, and she's convinced Trump will be best at that job.

THE UNDECIDED

"Make the right choice. Just don't vote, to vote. Do your research, look these people up. See who they are."

Justin Hopkins works for the U.S. Marshal, and lives in Richmond. He was out at the rally for work, but was also genuinely curious about Trump. He was a strong supporter of Obama, but hasn't decided who he'll vote for this Fall.
