Day 2 of the jury deliberations in the Bob and Maureen McDonnell corruption trial has the media, onlookers, and, of course, the McDonnell family camped out or nearby awaiting a verdict.
The McDonnells arrived with family and supporters in tow... Maureen looking chipper, Bob--not so much. The questions being tossed around relate to whether there will be a hung jury, if there’s reasonable doubt, and whether there's enough evidence to find the couple guilty of all charges, or just a few. And political analyst Bob Holsworth believes the jury could be hung up on the judge's 90 pages of instructions.
“My take on this also is that these instructions were so exhaustive and so extensive, that even in paying rigorous attention to them, you’re going to find that individual jurors have different interpretations of some of the key instructions.”
Some observers watching the trial believe that a verdict is likely Friday afternoon—but if it lingers beyond that, it could be a sign that the jury will not reach a consensus.
