School Safety en Preventing School Tragedies <p>Governor McDonnell has left a somber message with hundreds of high school students about their roles in preventing tragedies such as the Sandy Hook and Virginia Tech shootings. &nbsp;</p><p>He also said he believes there could be a correlation between students who may seem socially inept in their teen years and those who pose risks to society later.&nbsp;</p><p>That's one reason why he's asking students to be mindful of their surroundings and vigilant in their day-to-day activities.</p><p><br />&nbsp;</p><p></p> Thu, 12 Dec 2013 21:56:26 +0000 Tommie McNeil 14571 at Preventing School Tragedies W&L Students Involved in Fatal Early Morning Crash <p>State Police continue their investigation of a crash that claimed the life of one Washington and Lee University student and injured seven others.&nbsp;</p><p>Three remain in the hospital, and the university held a vigil Tuesday evening.</p><p></p><p>The tragedy occurred on a rural road outside Lexington.</p><p>“Around 1:30 this morning, on Turkey Hill Road, which is in Rockbridge County, a 2006 Tahoe was traveling southbound when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, hit a tree stump and overturned," said Sgt.
