Artist Parvin Pejman
A Native of Iran, Parvin received her medical degree from Tehran University. She practiced pediatrics for 20 years. Together with her husband, an orthopedic surgeon, they raised 2 daughters and have blessed with 2 grandchildren.
When the 1979 revolution brought her family to the United States, Parvin opened her weight loss business in Durham, North Carolina. After 10 years, she studied accounting and began doing taxes.
The horror of 9-11 gave her a sense of helplessness. It resurrected memories of destruction of her homeland and the great loss suffered by all Iranians. “When I started painting, everything I felt on the inside came out onto the canvas.”
Like the impressionists, Parvin admires rich colors and painters such as Degas and Georgia O’Keeffe. She incorporates many figures in her work in a variety of activities so one will feel lonely. She intends to keep life and nature alive in her work. Parvin knows where the brush stroke needs to be. Her paintings speak stories beyond words and the power of language.
